Gateway Scripts at FARO x THASTRO 2025 — A Global Gathering in the Spirit of Innovation

Gateway Scripts was proud to represent the scripting and automation community from the booth floor, positioned directly between LAP and Mevion. It was a privilege to meet the minds behind groundbreaking proton therapy delivery, tracking, and QA platforms—and equally exciting to be approached by physicists already familiar with Gateway Scripts’ work in open-source ESAPI development and clinical programming education. These early conversations, which continued enthusiastically late into the afternoons, reinforced the value of accessible knowledge-sharing and skill-building in advancing the global standard of care.

We were also grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Varian Medical Systems during the exhibition. At the Varian booth, we demonstrated a number of our open-source automation tools, including examples of automated treatment planning and automated contouring workflows. For many attendees—particularly physicists and physicians from Chulabhorn University, Siriraj Hospital, and other Thai and international institutions—these tools prompted valuable discussions about scripting for plan efficiency, quality improvement, and safety. It was clear that our collective research efforts, both abroad and at home at Washington University in St. Louis, are driven by the same core objective: to build the highest-quality treatment plans for patients with consistency, efficiency, and standardization.
Gateway Scripts was honored to participate in FARO x THASTRO 2025, a conference held this November under the inspiring theme “Unveiling the Power of Comprehensive Cancer Care.” This year’s meeting focused on the full continuum of cancer treatment—from diagnosis through survivorship—with a shared mission to empower multidisciplinary teams in delivering the best possible care for every patient.

The scale of the conference reflected the growing global momentum behind integrative cancer care. With 663 participants from 23 countries, including South Korea, India, China, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and more, FARO x THASTRO 2025 served as a remarkable platform for clinicians, scientists, and industry innovators to exchange new ideas and forge new collaborations. The program featured pre-congress hands-on workshops, keynote lectures from world leaders in oncology, and scientific sessions showcasing cutting-edge research and automation in radiotherapy

Beyond the conference halls, FARO x THASTRO 2025 offered an unforgettable cultural experience. Held in Chiang Mai, a breathtaking city in northern Thailand surrounded by mist-covered mountains and historic temples, the meeting provided the perfect setting for professional collaboration and personal reflection. While there, we had the chance to enjoy northern Thai cuisine, visit serene temples filled with reverence, sample coffees in lush jungle cafés, and even spend time with elephants at a sanctuary.

Gateway Scripts extends our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the Royal Family of Thailand and to the Thai people on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Mother Sirikit.

We join the people of Thailand in mourning this profound loss, and we do so with the utmost respect and reverence. It was a privilege to be present in Thailand during this period of remembrance, and we honor Her Majesty’s memory with humility and admiration.
